1. Start Climbing in the Middle of the Ramadan

Don’t hike when the fasting month is just starting. In the first week of Ramadan, the body is still adapting to the daily fasting rhythm.

You can hike in the second or third week because your body has started to adapt to the fasting rhythm. A week before the climb, you must start practicing light exercise while fasting. For example, jogging or cycling.

2. Choose a Mountain that is Not Too Heavy

Choose mountains that have relatively easier routes. Put aside the intention of climbing the mountain with an extreme route.

You can choose a mountain that is too high and relatively safe. For example, such as Mount Papandayan, Mount Gede, Mount Andong, or Mount Prau.

Even though the climbing routes for these mountains are known to be easy, you still have to be vigilant with all conditions. Don’t let your activities make you not fasting, because you are sick or not strong.

3. Select Time to Hike at Night

Choosing the right climbing time during the fasting month can be one solution. Avoid climbing in the morning or afternoon when the sun is hot.

You can choose to hike in the afternoon. On the way, you can stop for a moment to enjoy breaking the fast. It must be really fun, breaking the fast on the slopes of the mountain.

Alternatively, you can start climbing after the Tarawih prayers. If your hiking route is short, you can arrive at the top at dawn. Furthermore, you can go down home in the afternoon the next day.

4. Invite Friends who are Both Fasting Too

Your climbing friend who doesn’t fast can be a tough temptation when climbing, especially if you choose the climbing time in the afternoon. Because, they can eat and drink freely when they are tired, and you can’t.

Therefore, there is nothing wrong with choosing a climbing companion who is both fasting. Counting together feel the struggle. But if your faith is strong, it doesn’t matter who your friends are climbing you.

5. Take Additional Multivitamins at Dawn

In addition to maintaining carbohydrate and protein intake, you also need to take an additional multivitamin at dawn. The goal is to maintain stamina while doing outdoor activities.

6. Carry Logistics Effectively and Efficiently

Think carefully about the items you will bring if you choose to climb during the fasting month. You have to carry things as effectively as possible.

Get rid of things that are not important first. Climbing while fasting will make you more tired, especially if you are carrying things that are too heavy.

For example, it’s better to choose sleeping bags or mattresses with lightweight materials. You can also choose to bring parachute pants that have quick-dry capabilities.
